When I first picked up a glass blowing pipe in 1985, I was captivated
by the sensuous flow and wild possibilities of molten glass. Working
with Loredono Rosin and William Morris at the Pilchuck Glass School
in 1988 exposed me to the traditional Venetian technique of sculpting
solid hot glass.
The human form is the point of origin for my artwork. I gather glass from a 2000 F furnace on a glass blowing pipe. No molds are used. Fluid interpretations of the human figure twist and dance on the end of the pipe as I carve the hot glass with knives and paddles.
I have found glass to be the most compelling medium to portray
the grace and fluid motion of the human form.
