Artist's Statement
Through my observations of the natural environment, I am drawn to pattern, movement, rhythm and harmony. I use repletion of forms and actions in constructing my work because I find this to be a simple, meditative process allowing me to translate my appreciation of natural structures into new forms
Often in my work I use braches that have fallen to the ground where most people ignore their existence. I combine branches with clay sticks because of my connection with eastern philosophy, which recognized that everything comes from the earth and returns to dist after death. Through this interpretation of nature I want the mix of natural materials to form a new balance between my hands and the natural world.
