Joseph Friebert

Joseph
Friebert's career spans six decades. He completed his first works
in the mid-1930s and continued to paint until his death in 2002.
During his long career he made paintings, prints, sculptures and
murals that reflect the times in which he worked, the eras of the
Great Depression, the Holocaust, World War II, McCarthy's "Red
Scare" and the Cold War.
Although his works often reveal an awareness of the stylistic trends in mainstream American art, Friebert remained an independent, always committed to his own artistic goals.
